A 2002 Willie Parker Peace History Book Award recipient from the North Carolina Society of Historians, the Roster of Confederate Veterans from Chatham County, North Carolina documents about 2,000 veterans who were born in, resided in, or enlisted from the county.
Many sources were used to compile the information, including census records, local and family histories and published service records.
The Roster contains the name of each veteran and his rank at the end of service, company and unit, year of birth, year of death and service record. Additional basic service information and the veteran's place of burial, if located, are also provided.
The Col. John Randolph Lane Society is committed to preserving the memory of these men and the sacrifices they made for their families, their country, their state and their South. We urge anyone with additional information about these veterans to contact the society.
Printed copies of the Roster are available for sale at the Lane Society Sutlery.
